What a Fool

What a Fool

What a fool that I have been
By giving way to flesh and sin
I ask forgiveness once again
For more than seven times of ten.

There's no one but myself to blame
The grace was there, I failed to claim.
A pleasure brief with lasting shame
The flesh, my judgment overcame.

My hunger is for more than sweets
My weakness of the glory cheats
Then ridicule from evil one
Attacks His sad, disheartened son.

But like the rich young man, I came
In hope to overcome the shame
He looked at me and eyes of love
Said none of this belongs above.

You must learn the Father's way
By giving earthly things away
And calling on My grace to be
Your strength to learn to follow Me.
