11/23/25 Through 11/29/25

 11/23/25 Through 11/29/25

Sunday
The King upon the Cross was slain
In cruel torture, bitter pain
With every dignity removed
And love beyond all telling proved

His throne, a rugged wooden Cross
Our greatest gain, His total loss.
All pain and anguish there endured
And our salvation there secured.

Two thieves as well were raised that day
With one to mock and one to pray
The one who recognized the King
That day in Paradise would sing.

The Mother with her royal Son
Would share His pain to make them one
In suffering, her "yes" as well
Would work to thwart the gates of Hell.

No king before or since has known
A greater love, or bitter throne
In Him all faith and love is placed
By Him the faithful all are graced.

Monday
The faith of the humble, their trust in the Lord
Will lead to abundance of blessings outpoured.
The ones who observe every word that He speaks
Are known by the love that their action bespeaks.

Their "all" has been spoken, there's none left to give
They trust in His love that somehow they may live.
If not here below, in their home set above
Where all will be measured by standards of love.

The ways of our God are quite strange to the ones
Who marvel at actions performed by His sons.
They laugh at the offers of temporal relief
And hold to Christ Jesus in steadfast belief.

Two coins in the offering given that day
Were showing the rich and the haughty the way
To trust in the Lord and see how He responds
Releasing the fetters and breaking the bonds.

Be one in a million and throw in your lot
To see what it is that the chosen have got
No treasure or pleasure that's found here below
Compares to the glory the martyrs now know.

Tuesday
No kingdom here on Earth shall stand
For thereupon, the rock shall land
To crush the kingdom fine as chaff
And write their final epitaph.

To God be glory, one and all
For as the kingdoms rise and fall
His voice be heard that I AM God,
Accept no useless, Earthly fraud.

So, trust no store of arms to save
But One has triumphed o'er the grave
The One who rose to glory bound
The One in whom all peace is found.

Wednesday
Our faith in life beyond the grave
Is based on One who died to save
But One who rose again to show
What glory is to those below.

The heart of man is longing here
For something far away, unclear
With every gift of Earth in store
The heart is always craving more.

We see there's lacking here below
A way for true content to know.
So, logic says a final rest
Must lie beyond this Earthly quest.

But when we see the One who rose
And all the suffering He chose
We shy away from such belief
And search for only quick relief.

We need the eye to see beyond
The place at which the curtain's drawn
To have the strength, at last, to live
And so, at last, our "all" to give.

For once we've given all we own
The mystery of love is known
And then we see upon the Cross
We gain it all through total loss.

Thursday
When prayer can earn the lion's den
And lands are ruled by wicked men,
The righteous must be fervent then
To bring devotion back again.

Be not afraid to do the good
That all the faithful people should
The wicked try to silence prayer
And good, their wicked ways declare.

But only One, can good declare,
The source of goodness everywhere
The Maker of the Earth and sky
The One on whom the good rely.

Friday
In arrogance, oh Lord, we stand
Opposing Your direct command
The Way, the Truth, and Life for man
We just ignore to make our plan.

No looking 'round at all You made,
Or thought upon the price You paid
To bring salvation to our door
But pride and foolishness galore.

The Liar's voice is sweet at first
But never quenches quite the thirst
More promises he always makes
Then more and more our freedom takes.

The beast devours flesh of fools
With iron teeth it has for tools
But when the Ancient One arrives
The Ancient One alone survives.

Lord, change these stubborn hearts today
And help us find Your narrow way
Oh, shine the light of truth within
To help us turn away from sin.

Saturday
The end is near, it's close at hand.
But have we followed His command,
Or have we let the liquor dim
The Fear we all should have of Him?

Destruction comes to all below
This fact our every soul must know
For He has made it clear to men,
All evil will be banished then.

So, take no evil means or way
Just listen well and then obey
He comes with recompense for those
Within the bounds of love, He chose.
